Joan Marie Prigge

Joan Marie Prigge, 84, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on June 26, 2026.

Joan was born on March 8, 1942, in Red Bud. She spent her life in the community she loved, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship.

Joan married C. John Prigge on December 30, 1960 at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Bud; he preceded her in death on October 9, 2020.

She worked for many years at Pizza Hut, where she formed lifelong friendships that she cherished throughout her life. She also devoted her time to volunteering in the kindergarten classroom at St. John’s Lutheran School, where her caring heart and gentle encouragement touched the lives of many children.

Above all else, Joan loved God and her family. She found joy in life’s simple moments and has a remarkable ability to make those around her smile. Whether gathered around the table with loved ones or simply enjoying time together, Joan’s greatest happiness came from being with her family.

To those who knew her best, Joan will always be remembered as “Spicy Grandma”. She had a spirited personality, a quick wit, a love for her coconut margaritas, and never hesitated to say exactly what was on her mind. Her honesty, humor, and zest for life made her unforgettable, and the laughter she brought to those around her will live on in countless cherished memories.

Joan leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, strong faith, and joyful resilience. While her family mourns her passing, they find comfort knowing that her love, laughter, and the lessons she shared will remain with them forever.
