Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Digital Communication designed to prepare students for careers in digital media, marketing, content creation, and more, this program is ideal for anyone looking to build versatile communication skills that apply across nearly every industry, and is now open for enrollment.
In addition to the associate degree, the college also offers a stand-alone Digital Communication certificate, which students can pair with any other degree to gain a competitive edge in the job market. The degree and certificate have been officially approved by the Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development and are now open for enrollment and student financial aid eligibility.
“Every industry today needs people who understand how to communicate in the digital world, whether it’s through writing, video, social media or digital art,” said Jefferson College Associate Dean of Humanities Dr. Joanne Fish. “This program gives students the tools to build those skills and stand out in the job market. From healthcare to automotive and everything in between, digital communication is part of nearly every career. We hope to see Jefferson College become the digital communication hub for Jefferson County.”
Students in the program will take hands-on courses in writing for digital media, podcasting and video production, digital photography, graphic design, digital art creation, web marketing and social media production. The program also includes internship opportunities to help students gain real-world experience.
Graduates of the program will be prepared for careers in marketing, social media management, media production, public relations, corporate communications, journalism and more. The college has a transfer agreement in place with the University of Central Missouri, Wentzville and is actively pursuing additional partnerships to support students who wish to continue their education at a four-year university.
The Digital Communication A.A.S. degree is offered primarily in person, with select online courses available. Students can begin enrolling immediately for upcoming terms by contacting Judy Ellison, Jefferson College’s advising specialist for communications, social science and teacher education, at jelliso3@jeffco.edu.
In addition to classroom learning, Jefferson College’s Media Studio is now open to the public and available for reservation.
