ALEXANDER COUNTY – The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office requested the Illinois State Police to investigate a death in rural Alexander County.
On July 6, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., an Alexander County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a report of a domestic battery in McLure, IL. When the deputy attempted to take the subject into custody, the subject fled. Deputies conducted a search and found the subject in a creek near Grapevine Trail and Levee Road. Emergency responders were unable to reach the subject before he drowned.
