Highway Patrol promotes Captain Jason N. Crites

Colonel Michael A. Turner, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the promotion of Captain Jason N. Crites effective September 1, 2026. Capt. Crites will be promoted to the rank of major and will transfer to General Headquarters, Jefferson City, where he will serve as the bureau commander of the Executive Services Bureau.

Crites joined the Patrol as a member of the 75th Recruit Class on February 1, 1998. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 7, Howard and Cooper counties. Crites transferred to Troop E, Zone 9, New Madrid and Pemiscot counties, in February 2001. He transferred to Zone 8, New Madrid and Pemiscot counties, in September 2003. Crites was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Troop E, Zone 8, in August 2009. He remained in this zone after being promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor in December 2012. In February 2015, Crites was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to Troop F Headquarters, Jefferson City. He was promoted to captain and designated director of the Research and Development Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, in January 2020. In September 2022, Crites transferred and was named the commanding officer of Troop F.

Major Crites grew up in Portageville, MO, where he graduated from Portageville High School in 1992. He earned an Associate of Science from Mineral Area College in Park Hills, MO, in 1998. Major Crites attended Leadership in Police Organizations Training in February 2015. He graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command in May 2019. Major Crites and his wife, Shannon (Bibbs), have three children.
