Gerald Glennon Giesler

Gerald Glennon Giesler passed away at Our Lady of the Lake hospital in Baton Rouge, LA on April 9, 2026. He was 84 years old.

 

He is survived by: Wife, Barbara Giesler; son, Grant (Tricia) Giesler, and their children, Christopher (Maria), (great-grandson, Ryan), Nicholas and Kaitlyn Giesler; son, Michael (Miriam) Giesler, and their children, Margaret and Madeline Giesler; daughter, Pamela (Andrew) Webster, and their children, Alesha and Jared Webster; son, Derek (Melani) Giesler, and their children, Tyler and Daniel Giesler

 

He was preceded in death by his mother Maxine A. Giesler and father Glennon W. Giesler of St. Mary, MO.

 

Visitation will be at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve, MO on Wednesday April 15th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

 

Service will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary, MO on Thursday April 16th at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in St. Mary, MO. Memorials can be made to Valle Schools.

 

Gerald earned his B.S. in 1963 and his M.S. in 1965 in Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri. He earned his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics in 1970 from Louisiana State University. He then served as Head of the Social Science Department at Southeast Missouri State University for ten years before returning to Louisiana State University as an Extension Specialist. He retired in 2005 and was given the honor of Professor Emeritus for his extensive work with farmers.

 

Gerald will be very much missed by his loving family and his many friends from Missouri to Louisiana. He will always be in our hearts and in our minds and we will never forget him.
