CHESTER – Each year the women of the First United Methodist Church create tied fleece quilt blankets to donate to a needy cause.
This year the UMW tied eight blankets that will be donated to Chaddock in Quincy, Illinois.
Chaddock is a Methodist-based agency focusing on providing services to Children. Pastor Shawna Bennell, at Chaddock, was guest speaker at First United Methodist Church in Chester Sunday February 15 and gave a very moving and informative sermon regarding the services that Chaddock provides to their children. She also outlined the criteria that guide which children qualify to be served at Chaddock.
First United Methodist at Chester has been a financial supporter for Chaddock the past several years and intend to become even more involved in months and years to come.
Pictured here Tuesday February 18 at the February meeting of the Methodist Women are the ladies who created the tied quilts that will be donated to Chaddock. Left to right are Brenna Hammel, Vicky Beers, Jeanne Wagner, Jeanne Kleinschmidt, and Sue Dildine. Also present, but taking the picture, was Kathyy Belcher.
