Fred Allen Peters, 76, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 11:00 pm, Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, Illinois.
He was born to the late Fred “Fritz” and Virginia (nee Gregory) Peters on November 6, 1949 in Red Bud, Illinois.
Fred married Carmen Chandler on May 11, 1974 at First Baptist Church in Ellis Grove, Illinois; she survives.
He had worked at Chester Mental Health Center for 28 years. In 1995, Fred received his police certification and was a Police Officer for the Village of Ellis Grove as well as an Auxiliary Deputy for Randolph County until 2012.
Fred was one of the first members of the Randolph County Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Mississippi Valley Gun Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed being outdoors, waterfowl and deer hunting, camping and shooting his guns. Fred loved spending time with his close friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Also surviving: two children: Jarrod (Casey) Peters of Ellis Grove, IL and Lori (Shane) Sulser of Kaskaskia, IL; four grandchildren: Whitney & Anna Sulser and Trayton & Saige Peters and many cousins and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester, Illinois.
A funeral service for 76-year-old Fred Allen Peters of Chester, Illinois,will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois. Officiating: Dr. Mike Fogerson.
Interment will be in the Ellis Grove City Cemetery in Ellis Grove, Illinois.
