Foundation president Bill Hart awarded a Distinguished Service award posthumously to Louise Sheppard Wade for her contributions to improving the Guibourd-Vallé House and its cottage.

Anne Hemmer, Louise’s cousin, accepted the award on behalf of the Wade family.

Hart also presented Michael (Skip) Weiler with a Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his leadership of the Foundation as president for the last five years.

The Foundation awarded Vern Bauman with its Constance and Harry B. Matthews, Jr. Memorial Preservation Award in recognition of his over 50-year efforts to protect Ste. Genevieve and its historic structures from the ravages of the Mississippi River and for protecting the town’s physical history as a founding member of the Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center.
