Filing begins today for the Perry County August Primary Election

PERRYVILLE – Candidate filing for the August primary elections in Perry County began today.

 

Filing ends on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

 

Candidates filing for Perry County offices may file at the following location:

Filing will take place for the following County Offices:

  • Associate Circuit Judge – Division 32
  • Presiding Commissioner
  • County Clerk
  • Clerk of the Circuit Court
  • Recorder of Deeds
  • County Treasurer
  • Prosecuting Attorney
  • Collector of Revenue

 

Ballot Placement: First day filers will select a number by random drawing to determine placement on the primary ballot. After the first day, candidates are placed on the ballot in the order of their filing.

 

How to File: To appear as a candidate for nomination on the primary ballot, candidates must do the following at the Perry County Clerk’s Office during the filing period:

  • Show identification
  • Submit a $100.00 filing fee (cash or check) payable to the County Committee for the Political Party in which they are filing
  • File a Declaration of Candidacy
  • Complete the Form 5120 Candidate’s Affidavit of Tax Payments
  • Complete the Notice to Candidate for the Missouri Ethics Commission Independent Candidates:

 

Independent candidates must file a petition with the Perry County Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on July 27, 2026.

 

Elected Officials Qualifications:

 

Associate Circuit Judge (Article V, Sec. 21 Constitution of Missouri and § 478.320, RSMo.)

  • Resident of the county for at least 1 year prior to the election
  • At least 25 years of age
  • Qualified Missouri voter
  • Licensed to practice law in Missouri

 

Presiding Commissioner (§ 49.020, RSMo.)

  • Resident of the county County Clerk (§ 51.050, RSMo.)
  • Resident of the county 1 year next preceding election
  • Over 21 years of age Clerk of the Circuit Court (§ 483.010, RSMo.)
  • Resident of the county 3 months next preceding election
  • Over 21 years of age

 

Recorder of Deeds (§ 59.021, RSMo.)

  • Resident of the county one year prior to the date of the general election
  •  At least 21 years of age
  • Registered voter
  • Must provide a copy of a signed affidavit from a surety company indicating that the candidate meets the bond requirements of $5,000 (amount set by the County Commission and subject to change)

 

County Treasurer (§ 54.040, RSMo.)

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Resident of the county one year prior to the date of the general election
  • Registered voter
  • Current on the payment of all personal and real estate taxes
  • Must provide a copy of a signed affidavit from a surety company indicating that the candidate meets the bond requirements of $3,000,000 (amount set by the County Commission and subject to change)

 

Prosecuting Attorney (§ 56.010, RSMo.)

  • Resident of the county 1 year next preceding the date of the general election
  • At least 21 years of age  Licensed to practice law in Missouri Collector of Revenue (§ 52.010, RSMo.)
  • Resident of the county at least 1 year prior to filing
  •  At least 21 years of age
  • Registered voter
  • Current in the payment of all state income taxes and personal and real property taxes
  • Must provide a copy of a signed affidavit from a surety company indicating that the candidate meets the bond requirements of $750,000 (amount set by the County Commission and subject to change)
