A funeral will be held Monday, February 9, 2026 for 63-year-old Eugene “Gene” R. Bedwell of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 1:31 pm, Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, Illinois.
He was born August 17, 1962 in Perryville to Clyde and Shirley (nee Lankford) Bedwell on August 17, 1962 in Perryville, Missouri and was raised on Kaskaskia Island.
He is survived by two daughters: Allison (Scott) Evans of Chester, IL and Genie Bedwell (Fiance Skyler Bower) of Steeleville, IL; his friend and ex-wife: Sandra Bedwell of Chester, IL; a sister: Brenda Gendron of Chester, IL; a brother-in-law: Joseph Keith Mooreland, of the state of OK; and nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother: Clyde “Boog” Bedwell and three sisters: Linda Hook, Diane Keith and Emma Bedwell.
Gene spent most of his life driving big rigs for Link’s, Beelman, Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation and Tower Rock.
He loved tinkering and riding his Harleys, hunting and fishing.
Gene enjoyed hanging out with friends and having a few drinks with friends.
Most of all Gene loved his girls.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois.
