Edward Arnold Zahner, 77, of Perryville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Born on February 15, 1948, he was the son of Alonzo and Lillian Zahner.
Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army as a cook while stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he dedicated himself over 30 years to working as an inspector for the USDA.
As a devoted father of three sons, Edward was deeply involved in scouting, serving as a Scoutmaster and sharing his love for camping, fishing, and hunting. His commitment to community extended beyond scouting-he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Men’s Club in Billings, Missouri, where he generously gave his time and talents.
Edward will be remembered for his service, his love of the outdoors, and his unwavering dedication to family and community.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Zahner, and three sons: Michael Zahner; Ronald Zahner and his wife, Chanda; and Daniel Zahner and his wife, Nanci. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Danielle Conklin, Kimmy Gallipo, Breanna Zahner, and Noah Zahner; and two great-grandchildren: Lakin and Landon Conklin and nephew Jason Werner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Lillian Zahner; sister, Cathy Werner, and brother, Ronald Zahner.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
A Prayer Service will be 12:00 pm Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Deacon John Darin officiating.
Military Honors will be provided by Delta Team and American Legion #133.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
