Draft minutes of Dec. 15 Heritage Commission meeting released

HERITAGE COMMISSION

Ste. Genevieve, MO

December 15, 2025 6:00pm

 

Call to Order at 6:00 pm

 

Roll Call: Commissioners Casey Benner, Tom Hooper, Whitney Tucker and Mark Buchheit were present at roll call. Interim City Administrator David Bova was present. Commissioner Bill Hart was absent.

 

Approval of Agenda: Commissioner Buchheit made a Motion to Approve the agenda as presented. Commissioner Tucker seconded the motion, which passed 4-0-1.

 

Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Hooper made a Motion to Approve the minutes from the October 22, 2025 meeting as presented. Commissioner Buchheit seconded the motion, which passed 4-0-1.

 

Introduction of Evidence: Mr. Bova asked the Commission to approve the entry into the record of the Ste. Genevieve Municipal Code and the Design Guidelines for the Sainte Genevieve National Register Historic District along with the staff reports and additional documentation for the applications being considered. Commissioner Buchheit made a Motion to Accept the evidence into the record. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Hooper and passed 4-0-1.

 

Old Business:

• Mr. Bova provided the commission with an update on the 2023 HPF Grant.

 

New Business:

• SGHC004-26 To receive a Certificate of Appropriateness to install engineered wood siding on the sides and rear of the building at 132 Merchant St. Applicant, Mr. Michael Monia had notified Mr. Bova that day that he would be unable to attend and apologized to the commission and asked if the application could be tabled until January. Commissioner Buchheit made a Motion to Table the application until the January meeting. Commissioner Hooper seconded the motion which passed 4-0-1.

 

• Mr. Bova provided the FY2025 Certified Local Government (CLG) Report available to the commission and gave a brief explanation of the CLG Report. There were no questions.

 

Administrative Approvals:

• Attestation as to Material Replacement – 200 Market St. 2

• SGHC002-26 Certificate of Appropriateness – 170 Seraphin St.

• SGHC003-26 Certificate of Appropriateness – 647 LaPorte St.

 

Other Business: Mr. Bova discussed the following with the commission:

 

• Due to 3rd Mondays in Jan. & Feb. falling on holidays, the commission will move their meetings to the 4th Mondays, on January 26th & February 23rd.
