PERRYVILLE – Downtown Perryville Advancement has been awarded a grant of $5,500 from the Missouri Humanities Council (MHC) in support of the project titled “A Story of Place, People, and Progress.” The MHC is the only statewide agency in Missouri devoted exclusively to humanities education for citizens of all ages and has served as a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities since 1971.
This project will focus on capturing and sharing the rich history and continued evolution of Downtown Perryville through a professionally produced video. “A Story of Place, People, and Progress” will highlight the people, businesses, and moments that have shaped downtown into the vibrant district it is today, while also celebrating ongoing revitalization efforts and community pride.
As part of the project, Downtown Perryville Advancement will partner with the Perry County Historical Society to gather historic photographs, personal stories, and archival materials that showcase how downtown Perryville began and how it has grown over time. These elements will help tell a meaningful, authentic story that connects past, present, and future.
The completed video will serve as a lasting resource for residents, visitors, and future generations—promoting a deeper understanding of Perryville’s heritage while inspiring continued investment in the downtown district.
