Donald L. Giesler Sr., 88, of Perryville, Missouri passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Independence Care Center.
He was born November 20, 1936 in St. Mary, MO to LeRoy John Giesler and Rita A. (L’Hote) Giesler Kiefer.
Donald and Norma J. Giesler were married on February 18, 1984. She preceded him on July 14, 2014.
After graduating from St. Mary High School, he went into farming with his father. He ventured out of farming and went into real estate becoming a licensed real estate broker and appraiser. He was the owner operator of Giesler Realty in Perryville for approximately forty years.
Don was a faithful member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council #1263, American Legion Post #133, AmVets Post #94, and Missouri Realtors Association. He was a former member of the Perryville Chamber of Commerce.
He honorably served in the Missouri Army National Guard.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph (Luanne) Giesler of Milford, IA, Roy (Candyce) Giesler of Perryville, MO; daughter, Julia (Kevin) Hogard of St. Mary, MO; daughter-in-law, Kathy Giesler of Perryville, MO; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma J. Giesler; son, Donald L. Giesler, Jr.; sister, Janice Proctor; brother, Daryl Giesler.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 8:00 am to 9:30am on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Thursday, September 25, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Joe Geders C.M. officiating.
Burial will be at Home Cemetery in Perryville.
Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #133 and the Delta Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or Ladies of Charity Food Pantry.
