Donald James Bohnert, 81, of Affton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Ste. Genevieve Care Center.
He was born May 16, 1944 in Perry County, MO to Delbert and Agnes (Mattingly) Bohnert.
Donald and Janice Lukefahr were married February 7, 1970 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Highland. She preceded him in death September 1, 2022.
He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.
He was a member of St. Dominic Savio Catholic Church as well St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Affton.He was also a member of Bishop Du Bourg Council #4099, Knights of Columbus #12323, VIP Senior Club, and was a former Trustee of Mackenzie Hills Subdivision..
Survivors include Son, Timothy (Meredith) Bohnert of Woodlands, TX; Daughter, Linda (Steven) Meier of Sainte Genevieve, MO; Brother, Kenneth (Jayne) Bohnert of Perryville, MO; Two Sisters, Carol Schindler of Perryville, MO, Leila (James) Hayden of Perryville, MO; Four grandchildren, Abigail (Taylor) Scott, Rachel Groom, Reid Bohnert, Ella Bohnert; Three great-grandchildren, Maverick Scott, Paislee Scott Caroline Scott.
He was also preceded in death by his Parents; Great-Grandchild, Weston Scott; .
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 and from 8:00 am to 9:15 am on Wednesday January 7, 2026 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Highland with the Rev. Fred Wandera C.M. officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Vincent de Paul High School.
