PERRYVILLE – Perry County School District No. 32 voters said “no” to the Proposition KIDS proposal on the April 7 ballot.
Perry County’s voters turned out at a potential record setting 36.56% for an April Municipal Election.
The Prop Kids vote was 161 yes, to 121 no, 55.90 to 44.2 percent, falling short of the two-thirds majority needed for passage.
Perry County voters approved a property tax freeze for seniors 200-94, 68.03 to 31.97 percent.
For Perry County Memorial Hospital Trustee: Pat Naeger had 158 votes to Brenda Thurm Hopfer’s 104; 59.85 to 39.39 percent with two write ins.
For three seats on the Perry County School District No. 32 Board of Education: (three-year term) Nancy Voelker, 190; Caleb Streiler, 187; and Linda Buerck, 176 votes. A fourth candidate, Dan Querry, had 133.
There were five write-ins.For one seat on the Perry County School District No. 32 Board of Education (one year term): Terry Wichern, 192. Tara (Motley) Johnson had 48.
There was one write in.Perryville Mayor: Larry Riney, 129. There was one write in.Perryville Ward One Alderman: Deanna Kline, 63. Perryville Ward Two Alderman: Curt Buerck, 28.
