A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 for 72-year-old Denise Claire Henderson who passed away unexpectedly at home in Bloomsdale, Mo. Sunday, April 13, 2025.
She was born May 22, 1952 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Thomas “Tom” E. Henderson and Marjetta M. (Schilly) Henderson who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by a brother: Gene (Lynn) Henderson of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a sister, Janis M. Henderson of Kirkwood, Mo.; nephews, Chris (Stephanie) Henderson and Cody (Brandi) Henderson; a niece Casey (Scott Wright) Henderson; great-nephews: Colin and Wyatt Henderson; a great-niece, Emma Henderson; and a brother-in-law, Neil (Teresa) Eisenbeis.
She was also preceded in death by her sister: Sheila G. Henderson-Eisenbeis.
Denise believed in the value of education and was herself an educator. After graduating from Ste. Genevieve High School in 1970 and Southeast Missouri State in 1974, she taught home economics in several high schools in southeastern Missouri and San Diego, California. She was recently a college professor at Central Methodist University, Jefferson College, and Mineral Area College.
Denise approached life with curiosity, kindness, and a sense of humor.
She was often found tending her garden, hunting for a good antique deal, or talking with a friend or stranger. She had a soft spot for animals, and she loved cooking and sharing her love of food with family and friends. She was a person who wanted to do good in the world, and for those of us who counted her as family or friend, we can say that she certainly improved ours. We will miss her.
Visitation will be 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
