Darrell LaPlante

A graveside service will be held Saturday for 75-year-old Darrell Edward LaPlante Sr. of Bloomsdale, who passed away August 12, 2025.

 

He was born September 6, 1949 a son of  Anna LaPlante and Edward LaPlante, who both preceded him in death.

 

He married Debra LaPlante June 24, 1983 in Ste. Genevieve. She survives

 

He is also survived by four daughters: Nicole (Greg) Schwent, Jamie (Patrick) Fischer, Kyla (Tyson) Parker, and Breea (Matthew) Harmon; a son: Darrell (Kayla) LaPlante, Jr.; grandchildren: Nolan (fiancé Maria), Nathan, Morgan, Kennedi, Kyleigh, Tyson Jr. (fiancé Cylie), Joleigh, Jake, Calvin (fiancé Isabel), Kailynn, Devin (Jess), Jaylinn, and Jagger; and great-grandchildren: Collyns, Angelina, Killian, and Penelope.

 

He was also preceded in death by a grandson: Cole J. Heberlie; and a beloved dog, Penny.

 

Darrell was a member of American Legion Post 150 and was proud to serve our country in the United States Navy.

 

Darrell worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 34 years as a crane operator and dredge boat operator. He could be seen mowing grass two days a week after retirement.

 

He “loved” going to his grandchildren’s activities and vacations.

 

A graveside service for 75-year-old Darrell Edward LaPlante Sr. of Bloomsdale will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025 at St. Agnes Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2210.

 

The Rev. Ryan Weber will officiate.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
