A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 for 60-year-old Darla K. Ederer of Sparta, Illinois, who passed away at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, January 30, 2022 at her residence.
She was born September 25, 1961 in Red Bud, the daughter of George August and Ruth Marie (nee Poenitske) Ederer.
She is survived by her father, George Ederer of Sparta; three children: Jeremy (Natalie) Long of Evansville, Ill.; Joshua (Sara) Long of Evansville; and Adam Dale Welty Sparta; three siblings: Steven (Jenny) Ederer of Murphysboro, Ill.; Sheryl (Brion) Skaggs of Steeleville, Ill. and Danny (Cindy) Ederer of Sparta; three grandchildren: Jada Long, Tyler Long and Kolton Welty and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Ruth Marie Ederer and two granddaughters – Lydia Long and Kaylee Long.
She had worked at Sparta Community Hospital from 1998 to 2021 as the Human Resources Director.
Darla was previously a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Sparta, Illinois and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville, Illinois.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Her happy place was her back patio and she enjoyed taking care of her flower beds.
Visitation will be 8-10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville.
A memorial service for 60-year-old Darla K. Ederer of Sparta will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. Boniface Catholic Church of Evansville. Father Iuvenis Iheme will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery in Walsh.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
