A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 for 65-year-old Curtis “Scott” Sheeler of Sparta, Ill., who passed away at 10:38 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025 near his residence.
He was born July 1, 1960 in Sparta to the Franklin D. and Leola (nee Koester) Sheeler in Sparta. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Sparta.
He is also survived by a son: Bradley Sheeler (Jordan Smith) of O’Fallon, Mo.; two daughters: Jessica (Justin) Baker St. Louis, Mo., and Molly Gaster (Fiance Jon Fitzgerald) Norfolk, Virg,; three siblings: Keith (Michelle) Sheeler of Salem, Ill., Kristen Segelhorst of Okawville, Ill., and Kathleen Probst of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren: Ezekiel, Adalae, Penelope, Henry and Charles; good friends: Victor White of Murphysboro, Ill. and Donald Huebert Sparta, Ill.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He grew up at St. John Lutheran Church in Sparta and was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steeleville, Ill.
Scott was the chief financial officer at SSI in Herrin, Ill. until his retirement.
Scott enjoyed riding his Harley and loved his horses. His grandchildren were his life and lovingly called him “Hee Haw”.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, in Sparta.
