COLUMBIA – In recognition of Black History Month, an exhibition at the Ellis Library Colonnade on the University of Missouri campus will feature artworks from past and present African American Missouri artists, exploring the conservation of continuum within the realm of African American art.

Continuum… 100 Years of African American Art in Missouri Exhibition will be open now through
May 15, 2026 at the Ellis Library, University of Missouri-Columbia.
It features works by Kenneth Greene, E. Simms Campbell, Spencer Banks, E. Simms Campbell, Byron Smith and many other Missouri artists of past and present day.
In addition, a pop-up exhibition will be on view at the William Guitar Little Missouri Gallery of Art inside the State Historical Society of Missouri February 17 through February 27.
This two-week pop-up exhibition includes original and special reproduction drawings, lithographs, paintings, and sculptures, and is curated by Ja’Licia Gainer, an art history graduate student at the University of Missouri, who helped to develop the temporary exhibition in connection with the Continuum…100 Years of African American Art in Missouri at Ellis Library Colonnade.
