STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Milice will hold an encampment on Saturday, April 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind the Le Meilleur House located at the corner of Market and Main Streets.
The Milice were the citizen soldiers of Ste. Genevieve’s colonial past. Visitors to the encampment will interact with Milice members in period clothing, learn about colonial crafts, games and toys of the period, marching French style, and hear about equipment used by the militia when in camp.
The event is free to the public, family friendly, and handicap accessible on grass.
It’s a wonderful way for children to learn about the time before Missouri became a part of the United States.
