Colonial Militia Encampment October 10th

The Ste. Genevieve Colonial Militia will hold an encampment on Saturday, October 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the grounds of French Colonial America, located at the corner of Market and Main Streets. The Militia were the citizen soldiers of Ste. Genevieve’s French and Spanish colonial past. Visitors to the encampment will interact with militia members in period clothing, learn about colonial crafts, games and toys of the period, marching French style, and hear about equipment used by the militia when in camp. The event is free to the public, family friendly, and handicap accessible on grass. It’s a wonderful way for children to learn about the time before Missouri became a part of the United States.

This event is sponsored by the Ste. Genevieve Militia Inc, (a member organization of Seven Year’s War, Inc.) and French Colonial America. For more information, contact Doug Nickelson at dnickelson78@yahoo.com or visit www.frenchcolonialamerica.org
