Chester man taken to hospital following traffic crash

CHESTER — Two persons were involved in a traffic crash on Route 3 in Randolph County, Illinois Friday, July 3rd.

 

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office the crash happened about 10:25 a.m. 3.5 miles north of Shawneetown Trail when a southbound 2004 Chevy pick up driven by 70-year-old Dennis D. Guethle of Chester crossed the centerline into the northbound lane of traffic. A northbound 2016 Jeep SUV driven by 16-year-old Phillip J. Williams of Steeleville swerved to the right and struck a guard rail to avoid the pick up.The pick up continued southbound to Hillview Drive where it ran off the east side of the road and became stuck in an embankment.

 

It was discovered that the driver of the pick up was having a medical issue and lost consciousness. He was transported to Memorial Hospital in Chester by MedStar Ambulance.
