Chester High School Honors Night 2025

Two-part event recognizes 2025 CHS Awards as well as presents 56 college scholarships

By Jim Beers

CHESTER – Chester High School hosted its 2025 Honors Night event Wednesday night May 7th at Colbert Memorial Gymnasium on Rocky Bridges Court. This year’s event encompassed so many recognitions and awards that Casey Hawkins, CHS School Counselor, decided to host Honors Night in two separate segments.

The first segment recognized primarily Chester High School students that were being honored for “school-specific” achievements. These areas of honors included National Honor Society, Illinois State Scholars, the Southern Illinois Society for High School Achievement (SISHSA) recognitions, the 2025 Illinois Principal’s Award (IPA), the Terri Bryant Youth Advisory Council, the 2025 Southwestern Illinois Top-20 Scholarship recipients (SWIC Top-20), and the 2025 Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recipient.

At the completion of the first segment of honors and recognitions, there was a short break at which time parents and students who were not involved with scholarship presentations could enjoy light refreshments and leave if they so desired.

Approximately 15-minutes later, the second segment of the 2025 CHS Honors Night program began. This segment included the college scholarship portion of the evening and involved primarily CHS Class of 2025 senior graduate candidates. Most, but not all, of these 56 scholarships were presented either by or on behalf of local organizations.

Representatives from these local organizations had the opportunity to present the scholarships in person, otherwise they were presented by CHS administrators or personnel. This year there were a total of 56 monetary scholarships awarded by 35 different organizations.
