Carol A. Wingerter

Carol A. Wingerter, 80, of Perryville, MO passed peacefully Friday, August 1, 2025 surrounded by her loving and heartbroken family.

She was born September 7, 1944 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Hubert A. and Mae C. (Moore) L’Hote Buchheit. She and Lester Wingerter, the love of her life, were married on July 7, 1962. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2021.

Carol is survived by her children, daughter Lisa (Jeff) McPherson of St. Louis, MO and son Lynn (Wendy) Wingerter of Perryville, MO; her grandchildren Nicole Lopez of Milwaukee, WI and Michael and Thomas McPherson of St. Louis, Nicholas (Colleen) Wingerter of Perryville, Matthew (Yurani) Wingerter of Allentown, PA and Heather (Demetrius) Martin of Chester, IL; her step grandchildren Amanda (Ben) Miles and Tyler Allen of La Crosse, WI, and Samantha Allen of Madison, WI; her great-grandchildren Oliver Wingerter of Perryville, and Isaac and Jocelynn Geiser of Cape Girardeau, MO; her step-great-grandchildren Emberlyn Breedan, Odie and Ed Miles of La Crosse, WI; her sister Marilyn “Kay” (Mike) Hagan of Kirkwood, MO and her sister-in law JoAnne L’Hote of Perryville; her brother-in-law Norman Wingerter of Perryville and her sisters-in-law June Vinson of Perryville and Joan Buchheit of St. Charles, MO; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three infant children, her brothers John, Hubert “Louie”, and Rick L’Hote and her sister-in-law Joan L’Hote; her brothers-in-law Donald, Dale, and Richard “Dick” Wingerter and sisters-in-law Norma Jean “Sis” Galloway, Rose Diekamp, and Edna Colin.

Carol was a retired secretary, first at the Perry County School District and later at the TG (U.S.A.) Corporation. She also served on the school board for the district. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was an auxiliary member of the Perryville Elks, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus. She was a friend to many and was loved by all who met her. Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren and granddogs, visiting with family and friends, dancing, traveling, casinos, cruises, and shopping for jewelry.

Mostly, it was clear to everyone that Lester and Carol loved each other with a clarity and purity that is rare in this world. In her last days, Carol looked forward to rejoining Lester. They’re dancing now.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 8:00 – 9:45 AM.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday, August 11, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. Internment at Mount Hope Cemetery.
