Buzzi Unicem USA matches giving Tuesday gifts to SEMO Food Bank

CAPE GIRARDEAU – Buzzi Unicem USA is generously matching Giving Tuesday gifts to Southeast Missouri Food Bank up to $7,500; the Food Bank’s board of directors has pledged to make the total match $10,000. This year’s Giving Tuesday comes at a critical time for families across Southeast Missouri. Food pantries have seen increased need throughout the fall due to disruptions in SNAP funding, leading SEMO Food Bank to expand its services.

“The SNAP disruptions earlier this fall created real hardship for families already stretched thin. We doubled our Mobile Food Pantry distributions in November to help meet the surge in need,” said SEMO Food Bank CEO Joey Keys. “Now, as we enter the holiday season, many families are still recovering from the stress of those weeks. Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to show support for our neighbors who need it most.”

Matched donations will help the food bank keep distributions strong during the holiday season and continue supporting its network of more than 140 partner food pantries and agencies. SEMO Food Bank’s Giving Tuesday goal is to raise $30,000 to support the tens of thousands of neighbors relying on its network of partner agencies and direct-service programs each month.
