Boss informs Ste. Genevieve employee of $1 Million win

STE GENEVIEVE – A Missouri Lottery player won $1 million when the “Gold Rush” Scratchers ticket she purchased at Country Mart, 180 Plaza Drive in Ste. Genevieve, contained one of the game’s top prizes – though she didn’t immediately realize just how much she’d won.

“I was at work and had scratched the ticket,” the winner explained. “I thought I won $100,000!”

Excited about her win, she showed the ticket to her boss and planned to go home for the rest of day, figuring she would not be able to concentrate on her job.

“He said, ‘You better look at that again. You just won $1 million!’” she laughed. “Then I knew I was definitely going home! I was so excited and shaking so much, I was not going to be able to work!”

Since the $10 “Gold Rush” Scratchers ticket was released at the end of July, players have won more than $11.7 million in prizes.

Currently, over $23.4 million in prizes remain unclaimed – including an additional top prize of $1 million and three $50,000 prizes.

In FY25, players in Ste. Genevieve County won more than $2.2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $218,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $650,500 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county
