Biodiesel Coalition of Missouri commends EPA proposal, Trump Administration’s support for biodiesel

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Biodiesel Coalition of Missouri on Friday applauded President Donald Trump and the Environmental Protection Agency for proposed increases to renewable volume obligations for 2026 and 2027, calling the move a major win for Missouri biodiesel producers, fuel marketers, retailers and fleets.

The proposal would raise biomass-based diesel requirements from a projected 3.35 billion gallons in 2025 to 5.61 billion gallons in 2026 and 5.86 billion gallons in 2027.

“This proposal from EPA is a strong statement about the role of Missouri-made biodiesel in our nation’s energy future,” said James Greer, chairman of the Biodiesel Coalition of Missouri. “We thank President Trump, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins for recognizing the vital role biodiesel plays in producing sustainable, homegrown fuel.”

Following a challenging start to 2025, the proposed volume targets offer a strong market signal to biodiesel producers and to the fuel marketers and retailers committed to offering biodiesel.

“Biodiesel is a proven economic driver in Missouri,” Greer said. “This proposal will help biodiesel producers continue to operate at full capacity while supporting the retailers and fleets that have made investments to utilize and promote biodiesel.”

The coalition said it will continue working with the EPA, USDA and industry stakeholders to ensure the final rule reflects the proposal’s intent.

Missouri is a national leader in biodiesel production and home to one of the largest biodiesel user fleets in the country. The state has five biodiesel plants with a combined annual production capacity of approximately 250 million gallons. The industry supports more than 5,500 jobs and generates an estimated $2 billion in economic impact annually. Biodiesel adds value to every Missouri-grown soybean, supports local demand and provides a cleaner, cost-competitive fuel option for fleets.
