A funeral will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025 for 96-year-old Alfred W. Moureau, Sr. of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 11:40 p.m, Friday, November 28, 2025, at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation in Chester, Illinois.
He was born July 6, 1929 in Degognia Township, Jackson County, Illinois to Robert and Clarice (nee Clendenin) Moureau, who both preceded him in death.
Alfred married Mildred E. Winterberg September 10, 1949, in Paragould, Arkansas; she preceded him in death October 7, 1994.
He is survived by three children: Alfred (Myra) Moureau, Jr. of Salem, IL, Millida (Raymond) Ellner of Prairie du Rocher, IL, and Pamela (Larry) Beaver of Hollister, MO; three sisters: Doris Calandro of Murphysboro, IL, Patsy Sauer of Murphysboro, IL and Maggie Jane Korando of Rockwood, IL; five grandsons: Matthew (Kim) Karr, Ryan Moureau, Jeffrey (Jenn) May, Benjamin Karr, and Collin (Layla) Moureau; six great-grandchildren: Emily (Brandon), Karr-Noble, Madelyn Moureau, Clayton May, Elyse May, Kyle Moureau, and Adrianna Moureau; a great-great granddaughter: Evelynn May and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by: two siblings: Robert D. Moureau and Ruby Irene Moureau.
He was a pile driver for Smith and Brennan Pile Company in St. Louis, Missouri. During his construction career, he worked on the Clark Bridge in Alton, Illinois.
Alfred was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 72 in Chester, Ainad Shriners in East St. Louis, Illinois, and the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member of the Chester Boat Club and the Mississippi Valley Gun Club.
Alfred enjoyed the outdoors, whether spending time on his farm, hunting, or heading to the lake to fish.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois.

Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood, Illinois.
