A funeral will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 for 75-year-old Albert Joseph Buchheit of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, Mo.
He was born December 28, 1949 in Perryville, Mo. to Alphonse and Theodora “Dora” (Unterreiner) Buchheit. They preceded him in death.
Albert and Patricia Ann Knott were married August 8, 1970 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, Mo.. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2022.
He is survived by a daughter: Pamela Kay (Chris) Steele of Niceville, Fla.; three grandchildren: Lawrence “Lonnie” Joseph Chronister II, Brianna Alexis Steele, and Tyler Christopher Steele; two sisters: Helen (Richard) Rolfing of St. Peters, Mo., and Ann Bodenstein of Gordonville, Mo.; a brother: Clyde Buchheit of Perryville, Mo. and fiancée, Janet Murray of Perryville.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Melisa Ann Gibson; a sister: Dorothy Alkemeyer; a sister-in-law: Geraldine Buchheit; and two brothers-in-law: Bill Alkemeyer and Art Bodenstein.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era.
Albert retired after working many years at Mississippi Lime Company in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.. He was also the founder and owner/operator of Buchheit Archery in Perryville.
Albert was a member of Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church, Niceville, Fla. and a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 133, VFW Post No. 4282, Am Vets Post No. 94, and the Perry County Sportsman Club.
Albert enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially trout fishing at Montauk State Park with his wife Patricia. Most of all he loved attending his grandchildren’s music and sporting events.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025 and 8-9:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2025 at the Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville. The Rosary will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2025.
A funeral mass for 75-year-old Albert Joseph Buchheit of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Fred Wandera officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville with graveside military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 133 and the Delta Team.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Missouri National Veterans Memorial .
