STE. GENEVIEVE – The Library Board has made the difficult decision not to fill the Outreach Librarian position at this time. After assessing the library’s needs and financial obligations—coupled with the failure of Proposition L in the spring—we had to make this hard but necessary choice regarding this much-beloved position.
As a result, our remaining staff will be sharing responsibilities and continuing to plan as many programs as possible. While we may not be able to maintain all of the outreach efforts that Ms. Misty provided, we are actively exploring new ways to keep the library visible and engaged throughout the community.
Recently, staff members attended professional development conferences and returned with a variety of creative ideas we believe can be adapted to fit SGCLIB and our community’s needs. Developing these new programs will take time, but when they’re ready, you’ll be the first to know!
While this isn’t the message we hoped to share, we remain committed to growing our library services to the best of our ability within our current limited budget.
If you’re wondering how you can help, consider volunteering with the Friends of the Ste. Genevieve County Library, who meet on the second Monday of each month. With reduced staffing, volunteer support is more important than ever. You can also support the library by attending Friends fundraisers, including the upcoming Nosferatu screening at the Orris on October 25th. Proceeds from that evening will help us bring several new program ideas to life.
Thank you for your continued support and patronage.
