A Busy July for the Mississippi Valley Art Guild

CHESTER, Ill. – The Mississippi Valley Art Guild is planning a busy July. 

Meet the Artists Open House

On Saturday, July 19, they will be hosting a Meet the Artists Open House from 1-4pm.  Several artists will be on hand to demonstrate their artistic talents, which include wood working, stained glass creations, jewelry making, along with painting using acrylics, watercolor and alcohol ink. 

Adult Classes

Adult classes scheduled for July are Learn to Stamp on Clay on the 12th, 1-3pm. Once the technique is mastered the clay piece can be made into a hair barrette, pin, or medallion. The cost for this class is $35.  Stained glass classes are held on July 15th and 17th, 5:30-8:30pm. Beginners are welcome to learn cutting glass and soldering with lead to create a beautiful glass piece. Cost for this class is $50.

An alcohol ink class will be on July 24th, 5:30-8:00pm. The project for the evening is a Triptych art piece using alcohol inks on 4×4 square tiles. Cost for this class is $35.  On July 29, 5:30-8:00pm, the guild will hold a Paint Pour class using a feather pull method and a blown flower method on a 12×12 canvas.  Cost for this class is $40.

Adult Open Art Studio

The last Saturday of every month is an Adult Open Art Studio. July’s is on the 26th, 1:00-3:00pm.  Those attending can bring artwork from home to work on, or use the guild’s supplies to start an art project. The Open Art Studio is free. It’s a relaxing afternoon of art.
