STE. GENEVIEVE – Third Ward Aldermen Joe Steiger has been selected to serve as President of the board for the current term.
The election of the new president was the first item on the agenda at Thursday’s regular meeting after the routine pledge of allegiance, roll call and approval of the agenda.
Alderman Jeff Eydmann did not attend the meeting.
In his written report prepared for the meeting Ste. Genevieve City Administrator Happy Welch announced that a construction agreement with Kluesner Contracting for improvements to the trail at Pere Marquette Park should be ready next month.
He discussed the use of some of the ARPA funds for a new city government website. The city;s marketing plan recommends a new branding and logo concept, so the website development will be delayed until the new logo and branding concepts are decided on.
The aldermen approved the consent agenda which included a request from the Foundation for Restoration to close streets during the French Heritage Festival on June 8th.
Jefferson Street will be closed between Main Street and Valle Street from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 8, DuBourg Street will be closed at 9 a.m. and opened at 11:15 a.m., Merchant Street will be closed between DuBourg and Main Street from 10-11:30 a.m. and Main Street will be closed between Merchant and Washington Streets from 10:45-11:30 a.m., North Main will be closed between Jefferson and Washington Streets 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. for the evening street festival and entertainment and clean-up.
In addition there will be no parking next to the Main Street Park from 5 p.m. Friday, June 7th to 5 p.m. June 8th.
The Main Street Park will be the site of the event from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 8.
The consent agenda also included Resolution 2024-28 appointing Tom Hooper to the Tourism Tax Commission.
The aldermen gave final approval to two measures:
Bill No. 4620 grants a special use permit to Dan Carver for a financial services office at 658 Rozier Street was approved on a 7-0-1 vote (Jeff Eydmann absent).
Bill No. 4621 creates an intergovernmental agreement between the city and Ste. Genevieve School District R-II for water main improvements on Maple Drive between Ninth and Virginia Streets was approved on a 7-0-1 vote. (Jeff Eydmann absent).
The aldermen also approved the renewal of all existing liquor licenses.
Following the regular session, the aldermen met in a work session to discuss fire district fund expenditures, the northwest storm water detention project, whether to use concrete to pave the Maple Street extension and a false fire alarm policy.
