Chester Area Christian Food Pantry holds Mobile Market

CHESTER – The Chester Area Christian Food Pantry held a Mobile Market April 25.

 

 

Volunteers sort food items donated by the St. Louis Area Food Bank Wednesday April 25.

 

Some of the food items offered at the April market included fresh eggs, apples, strawberries, peppers, various other produce items and milk. The market had approximately 90 clients who greatly appreciated the food donations.

 

This monthly event is coordinated and sponsored by the Chester Area Christian Food Pantry and manned by roughly 25 or more men, women, and student volunteers. The next Mobile Market will be held Wednesday May 22 at the Cohen Recreation Complex in Chester  beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Roughly 25 volunteers braved the damp, cold weather to serve approximately 90 vouchers. The Christian Food Pantry sponsors the monthly Mobile Markets with food donations from the St. Louis Area Christian Food Pantry.

 

The regularly scheduled events take place on the 4th Wednesday of each month and are hosted at the Cohen Recreation Complex on Rt. 3 north in Chester.

 

During the month of April the Christian Area Food Pantry, located at Koeneman Acres Housing Project in Chester served 203 households with 490 individuals.

 

The pantry currently needs canned fruit, canned meats, and box dinners. Monetary donations also help greatly to feed clients.

 

The next Mobile Market will take place Wednesday May 22 at approximately 8 a.m.
