Chester residents participate in Illinois State Lions Convention

CHESTER, Ill. – Larry and Ann McGuire recently participated in the 103rd Lions of Illinois State Convention in Springfield, Illinois.

The event brought together around 290 Lions from throughout Illinois for a three-day gathering. Larry, who is finishing his third term as district governor of District 1-CS, was actively involved in the convention’s proceedings.

The convention featured four plenary sessions, which included voting on an updated state constitution and bylaws proposal, as well as caucuses and various training seminars. The convention also hosted a keynote address by Past International Al Brandel of New York, who emphasized the importance of Lions and Lions Clubs returning to their core principles. Notably, Chester Lions Richard and Brenda Pautler were also in attendance at the Saturday evening banquet.

Moreover, the incoming Council of Governors elected their officers and selected the council chairperson, Chester Lion Larry McGuire, from a pool of four candidates. In his new role, Larry will be responsible for coordinating the 10 Illinois Lions Districts to promote the goals of Lions, offer guidance, and convene council meetings, among other duties.

Larry is excited and pleased to serve in this office.

“We will not be a do-nothing council,” said Larry.
