One of the May 7 Perry County traffic crash victims has died

JEFFERSON CITY – One of the two persons who suffered serious injuries in a traffic crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 51 in Perry County near the Air Evac Base, has died.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 62-year-old Mary K. Douglas of Perryville passed away Wednesday, May 8th at Mercy St. Louis Hospital where she had been flown by Air Evac helicopter.

 

The other person hurt in the crash, 30-year-old Dakota S. Queen of Fredericktown was taken by Air Evac helicopter St. Louis University Hospital by Air Evac helicopter.

 

According to the accident report: Douglas was traveling south in a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox and Queen was traveling north in a 2020 Toyota Corolla. The patrol says the Equinox crossed the center line and despite Queen’s efforts to avoid a crash by traveling off the right side of the road, the front of the Equinox struck the front of the Corolla.

 

The crash happened about 12:04 p.m.

 

The patrol says both drivers were buckled up.

 

Both vehicles were total losses and were removed by Perry County Towing.
