A graveside service was scheduled to be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 for 76-year-old Bruce William Brown of Chester, Ill., who passed away at 12:36 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his residence.
He was born October 15, 1947 in Chester, Illinois to Spencer Francis and Maev (nee Berry) Brown, who both preceded him in death.
Bruce married Mary Jacinta Maes on June 14, 1969 in Chester, Illinois; she survives in Chester
He is also survived by two siblings: Terry (Carolyn) Brown of St. Louis, Mo. and Jeanne (Ken) Wagner of Chester, Ill.; two nieces: Jennifer (Brad) Warhausen and Rebecca (Larry) Hanna; two nephews: Nathan (Ashley) Brown and Matthew (Lindsay) Brown; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was the CEO of Southern Illinois Sand Company and it’s subsidiaries.
Bruce was an avid hunter and was a member of the Mississippi Valley Gun Club.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 72 in Chester and was a 32nd degree Shriner and a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 3553 and American Legion Post No. 487 in Chester.
He was a United States Army veteran who served as a captain during the Vietnam War.
A graveside service was scheduled to be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 for 76-year-old Bruce William Brown of Chester, Ill. at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood, Illinois. Father Sebastian Ukoh and Don Berry were scheduled to officiate.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School or to the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund.
