Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen meets

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met Thursday evening in regular session.

The board’s new podium was unveiled. It was constructed by two students in the Ste. Genevieve High School Industrial Tech Department – Vinny Bhahga and Gavin Amlong.

The city has also unveiled its new sign, flag and flagpole.

 

Ashley Crider, executive director of the Ste. Genevieve Housing Authority presented the annual housing authority report for 2023.

 

Assistant Police Chief Ryan Pollock and Alliance Water Resources Steve Wilson presented their reports.

 

Carl Kinsky spoke during the public comment section of the meeting, discussing the form of public comment which is made. He noted that about a year ago an individual spoke at the meeting and made accusations about himself and his wife. He said none of the people conducting the meeting responded to the comments. He said the board can make comments in response to statements made at the meeting.

 

The city attorney, Mark Bishop, advised the board not to respond to comments made by the public.

 

The aldermen approved the consent agenda.

 

Resolution 2024-22 appointed Karen Stuppy to the Ste. Genevieve Tourism Advisory Council.

 

Resolution 2024-23 authorized the mayor to execute a property maintenance agreement with Kari Davidson to maintain flood buy out property.

 

Resolution 2024-24 authorized the mayor to execute a property maintenance agreement with Mary Jo Holland to maintain flood buyout property.

 

Valle Catholic Grade School requested a street closure of Fourth Street between Merchant and Jefferson Streets for Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. for May Crowning.

 

Old Business

 

Bill No. 4609 modifying the city code regarding the police chief was approved on second reading, 8-0.

 

Bill No. 4609 allowing the mayor to enter into a $132,295 agreement with Jokerst Paving for the North Fourth Street Drainage/Paving Improvements Project was approved on second reading, 8-0.

 

Bill No. 4610 authorizing an agreement between the city and the Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band was approved on second reading, 8-0.

 

New Business

 

Bill No. 4611 approving a special use permit for guest lodging at 105 North Second Street was given first and second approval, 8-0.

 

Bill No. 4612 approving a contract for in car and integrated body cameras from Axon Enterprise for the purchase and installation of 10 body cameras and nine in car camera systems for $125,213.80 over a 60-month contract was given first and second round voting, 8-0.

 

Bill No. 4613 – Authorizing the city administrator to enter into an agreement with Republic Services for trash service at city buildings was approved on first reading.

 

Bill No. 4614 – Authorizing an amendment to the city budget was approved on first reading.
