Dolores A. ‘Dodie’ Schlichting

A funeral will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 for 79-year-old Dolores A. “Dodie” Schlichting of Perryville, Missouri who passed into eternity Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Independence Care Center in Perryville with family at her bedside.

She was born April 9, 1942 in Perryville to Barney and Clara (Lappe) Hennemann. They preceded her in death.

She and John W. Schlichting were married on September 3, 1982 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Perryville. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter: Debbie (Tom) Schumer of Jackson, Mo.; a son: Dean (Angie) Newell of Beebe, Ark.; a step-daughter: Sherry Ballard of Rockford, Ind.; a brother: Wayne (Joyce) Hennemann of Perryville; a sister: Angie Fausz of Perryville; six grandchildren: Darren (Hannah) Newell, Derrek (Special Friend Jettie) Newell, Danielle (Madison) Milliken, Paige (Matt) Reinagel, Morgan (Ryan) Brugger, Trenton (Fiance Shelby) Schumer; a step-grandson: Jacob Schlichting; nine great-grandchildren: Melea Milliken, Jonah Milliken, Peter Milliken, Clare Reinagel, Kate Reinagel, August Brugger, Vincent Brugger, Drake Newell, and Averi Newell.

She was also preceded in death by five sisters: Rita Rubach, Bernetta Lankford, Jeanette Finger, Lula Gettinger, Anna Kahmke and a brother: Glennon “Barney” Hennemann.

Dolores worked at the International Shoe Factory for many years and also at the Association of the Miraculous Medal, working in its member services.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a volunteer in their pantry, thrift store and with their jail ministry.

Dolores enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and playing bingo.

Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021 and 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday December 22, 2021 at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral mass for 79-year-old Dolores A. “Dodie” Schlichting of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Kevin Fausz, CM officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Ladies of Charity Food Pantry or St. Vincent de Paul Education Foundation.
