STE. GENEVIEVE – Three students from Ste. Genevieve Middle School represented their school at the 2023-2024 MAJHAA Conference Spelling Bee: eighth graders Alaina Vancil and Reese Wibbenmeyer and sixth grader Camden Cooper.
Reese Wibbenmeyer
After 74 rounds, and the proctor running out of words twice, Reese tied for first place. He will go on to compete at the regional level of the spelling bee in Poplar Bluff in the coming weeks.
To determine which students participate in the conference competition, SGMS holds its annual school spelling bee.
SGMS English Language Arts teachers Ashley Mertzlufft and Kelly Jokerst manage the school bee each year.
Congratulations to all three of our SGMS contestants and a special congratulations to Reese! We are proud of his perseverance and his phenomenal spelling abilities.
