A funeral will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 for 79-year-old Dennis Edgar Lohmann of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Mercy South Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1944 in Farrar, Mo. to Otto and Edna (Roth) Lohmann.
Dennis and Sandra K. Schilling were married February 19, 1966 at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Mo. for 58 years. She survives.
Survivors also include a daughter: Catherine (Shannon) Stumpe of Perryville, Mo.; a son: Daniel (Julie) Lohmann of Evansville, Ill.; a brother: Delbert (Carol) Lohmann of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Alice Hecht of Altenburg, Mo.; a brother-in-law: Barney Schlichting; six grandchildren: Blake, Megan (Ryan) Gordan, Hannah (Izayah) Miller, Nathaniel Lohmann, Jordan (Trystin French) Stumpe, Brendan (Mackenzie Laurentius) Stumpe; two great-grandchildren: Logan and Scarlett; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Arleen Schlichting; a brother: Edward Lohmann; a grandchild: Katie Lynn Stumpe; a brother-in-Law: Elmer Hecht; and a sister-in-law: Bernice Versemann-Lohmann.
He served in the United States Army.
Dennis was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, a member of the American Legion Post #133 and Perry County Sportsman Club.
He worked in St. Louis for 21 years as a warehouse supervisor for Kroger.
He then came to Perryville and worked as a bartender for the American Legion for many years.
Dennis served as Perry County Commissioner and worked as an insurance adjustor for Arnsberg Insurance Co.
He also had a small business on the side doing heating, cooling and electrical work.
Dennis and Sandy enjoyed many vacations together, lots of them cruises.
He found time to enjoy golfing, fishing and hunting with family and friends.
Dennis always had a joke or story that brought smiles and laughter to many who knew him.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.
A funeral for 79-year-old Dennis Edgar Lohmann of Perryville, Mo. will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville with Rev. Matthew Marks officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
