It’s not lost.

The 1914 cannon has just left town for a trip to a Parmer’s Sandblasting who will restore it to its original condition.

Yesterday afternoon around 1 p.m. it was placed on a flat bed truck and hauled to the  facility on Highway 32 in Ste. Genevieve County – accompanied by an escort from the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office.

When it returns, it will find its home much improved. It will likely include a concrete pad and, hopefully, an historic marker.

For more information on the cannon, see the article in the Monday, Jan 8 edition of the Sun Times News Online at: https://suntimesnews.com/2024/01/08/vfw-world-war-i-cannon-heads-out-for-restoration/

Donations toward the restoration project can be sent to VFW Post 2210, P.O. Box 347, Ste. Genevieve, MO 63670.
