Bonnie Grobe

Bonnie Grobe, 80, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 4th, 2024 at the deGreeff Hospice House. Daughter of Leo and Dorothy (McClanahan) Buatte, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Grobe and sister Mary Lee (Buatte) Huck.

Bonnie is survived by a daughter, Sarah Grobe of St Louis, MO, a son, Andrew Grobe ( Kelly Tilley) of Imperial, MO and a granddaughter Alana McCall of St Louis MO, a sister, Betty (Louie) Kuehn, and brothers John (Pat) Buatte, Donald (Roselee) Buatte of Ste. Genevieve, MO, Paul (Diane) Buatte of Nixa, MO and David (Lori) Buatte of Lee Summit, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie spent her childhood on a farm in Kinsey, Missouri and often shared fond memories of growing up surrounded by loving parents and a wonderful family. She attended Valle Catholic High School in Ste. Genevieve.

At age 24, Bonnie married Dan Grobe and together the two of them built a life in St. Louis. Bonnie helped Dan start his own accounting practice and worked by his side until retirement. They adopted two children and Bonnie was able to split her time between the business and being a stay-at-home mom. She was never happier than when she was volunteering at the kids’s schools and for their activities.

She was a dedicated member of St. Catherine Labouré parish and served in the Ladies of Charity, providing delicious side dishes and desserts after funeral masses as well as at parish events. She actively gardened, crafted, quilted and socialized – keeping up with friends from grade school and high school, organizing family reunions, and spending time with her much loved ‘prayer group’ of ladies.

Bonnie always had a kind word for everyone she met and was able to see the silver lining in every situation. She will be missed.

A Catholic Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11th at St. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church, 9740 Sappington Rd, Sappington, MO 63128, officiated by Rev. Charles Prost.

Directly after the mass, friends may visit from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Three King’s, 40 Ronnie’s Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63126. A private burial will be held at 11a.m. Friday, January 12th at Valle Spring Cemetery.
