A funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 for 90-year-old John “Hans” Francis Okenfuss of Ste Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo.
He was born July 24, 1933 in Sainte Genevieve, Mo. a son of Oscar Okenfuss and Josephine Okenfuss who both preceded him in death.
He married to Joyce (Roth) Okenfuss on July 8, 1967. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son: David (Stacy) Okenfuss of Mexico, Mo.; two granddaughters: Emilie (Alex) Falls and Delanie Okenfuss; two grandsons: Cody and Zachary Watkins; and a great-grandson: Bryor Falls.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Austin Okenfuss, Welton Okenfuss, and Oscar “Spider” Okenfuss; and two sisters: Duella Okenfuss and Norma Oberle.
John proudly served our country in The United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of VFW, Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 150.
John graduated from Valle Catholic High School in 1951.
He enjoyed farming, antiquing, playing cards, and refinishing furniture.
Visitation will be noon to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A funeral for 90-year-old John “Hans” Francis Okenfuss of Ste Genevieve, Mo. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Edward Nemeth will officiate.
Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
