STE. GENEVIEVE — Internet and electric service was cut to an unknown number of residents in the 1000 blocks of Market Street and Westwood Drive Monday night in Ste. Genevieve.

A Citizens Electric Corporation official said he was told a car struck a utility pole and snapped it off.

He said it took the CEC crews almost four hours to replace the pole and restore service.

Internet service was restored around 3 a.m.

It could not be determined if the internet outage and power outage were related.

The internet outage actually began prior to the power outage, about the same time a resident reported a semi-tractor trailer rig had smashed his mailboxes and was later found parked with hazard lights turned on near Market and Blain Streets.
