Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen approves Buchheit sign

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen met Thursday night for its regular and work sessions.

 

There were the usual reports: city administrator, tourism, community develoment and fire department.

 

 

A public hearing was held on a request from Buchheit’s Logistics for a special use permit for a four by eight foot frestanding, non illuminated sign at 1020 Market Street in an R-1 Single Family Residential District. The sign was recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday.

 

Following the hearing the aldermen voted first and second round approval for the sign on 7-0-1 votes, wirh Ald. Cleghorn absent.

 

Four resolutions were approved as part of the consent agenda.

 

Resolution 2024-06 declaring certain city hall and police department office furniture to be surplus.

 

Resolution 2024-07 appointing Whitney Tucker to the tourism tax commission.

 

Resolution 2024-08 apply for a grant to assist the fire department in purchasing eight sets of turnout gear and  replace all of the fire hoses the department has.

 

Resolution 2024-09 declaring fire helmets at the fire house to be surplus property.

 

Two ordinances were given second round approval:

 

Bill No. 4593 – calling for a general election April 2, 2024. Second reading

 

Bill No. 4594 – amending city code for video service providers to comply with state statute. Second reading.

 

New business

 

Approval of the $25, 358.19 estimate from McCoy Construction and Forestry for a complete overhaul of the city’s backhoe.

 

Bill No. 4595 – Change in the water infrastructure improvements project, adding $8,253 to the contract with Jokerst Inc. Approved on First and second reading.

 

Bill No. 4596 – A $66,530 agreement with Jokerst Inc. for the Jefferson Street Sidewalks Improvements Project. Approved on first and second reading.

 

Bill No. 4598 – An agreement with McDaniels Marketing of Pekin, Illinois to develop a five-year marketing plan to be used by the Ste. Genevieve Tourism Department. Approved on first and second reading.

 

A work session followed the regular meeting.

 

Topics discussed during the work session were: police department garage repairs and TAP funding 2024.

 

Mayor Brian Keim announced that the developer of the proposed Progress Parkway Development would be in town and would attend a work session in December. He asked all aldermen to be present for what is expected to be a closed session.
