Chester’s Mallary Vasquez is Lindenwood University Homecoming Court candidate

Vasquez is a senior majoring in Mass Communications

CHESTER – Mallary Vasquez, a former Chester High School student, is now a senior at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. She is majoring in Mass Communications and loves staying busy on campus.

Chester’s Mallary Vasquez, daughter of Trevar and Susan Vasquez, is a Lindenwood University Homecoming Court Candidate. Vasquez is a senior Mas Communications student at Lindenwood and will be graduating in May of 2024. Homecoming activities run throughout the week of Monday October 30 through Saturday November 4 with the announcement of the 2023 Homecoming Court Royalty at halftime of the Lindenwood vs Eastern Illinois University game Saturday November 4. Miss Vasquez is a senior Candidate for 2023 Homecoming Royalty at Lindenwood. This is Homecoming Week at Lindenwood and Vasquez is excited to be a part of the festivities.

Vasquez said, “I applied for Homecoming Senior Royalty because I never had the guts to do anything like this before I came to Lindenwood. I am so honored to be on the Court and I am beyond excited for everything that this week will bring!”

“I put a lot of time and effort into projects and initiatives at Lindenwood, and I care deeply for everyone in the Lindenwood community. I embrace the diverse and unique backgrounds we have here and have loved getting to know so many people in my last four years at Lindenwood.”

“In the real world, I am a loyal, loving friend, and I always try to give back to the community and those people around me. I also love just making people laugh and brightening everyone’s days. I hope everyone has a wonderful Homecoming Week and that they will please consider voting for me.”

Mallary states that since coming to Lindenwood she has fallen in love with student involvement and she is very engaged on campus. She has even taken responsibility for several leadership roles and has held positions of leadership in various organizations.

She has been President of her Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority. She has been Director of Community Outreach in Lindenwood Student Government. She was President of the Society of Professional Journalists. She is a reporter for Lindenlink and Treasurer for the Self Care Club. She is a Lion Leader and is a member of the Phi Chi-Panhellenic Association.

Vasquez said, “I am from a small town in Southern Illinois, not even big enough to have stoplights. Growing up I realized that the small town life wasn’t for me. That brought me to St. Charles and Lindenwood.”

“I lived on campus in my first two years of school, and now I live off-campus with my roomie and my sweet cat. I am wrapping up an internship this week that has allowed me to help host and market elite amateur golf championships. I also work part-time as an in-hospital newborn photographer. I further enjoy pursuing photography on the side.

Mallary is the daughter of Trevar and Susan Vasquez, both of whom are life-long residents of Chester. Mallary was very active at Chester High School and was an excellent student. She was very involved in her schools, the community, and her church throughout her years as a student in Chester.

Homecoming at Lindenwood runs through Saturday November 4 when the Lindenwood Lions host Eastern Illinois University.

Lindenwood is a 4-year university which offers 100 degree and certificate options. The Lions are a Division I school for NCAA Sports. The university offers comprehensive student-centered learning and community engagement. There is a 19-1 student-to-teacher ratio, and 93% of graduates are either employed or enrolled in graduate programs upon graduation.

Major Homecoming Weekend activities begin Friday November 3 with the Lindenwood University Gala with features guest speaker Ozzie “The Wizard” Smith of St. Louis Cardinals fame. The 2023 Homecoming Parade is Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The Homecoming theme is, “Once Upon a Time”.

Also on Saturday is the Annual Homecoming “All Sports Clinic” from noon till 1 p.m. The Lion Pride Tailgate is from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. with the Homecoming Game kicking-off at 2 p.m.

The Homecoming Court will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming Game featuring Lindenwood and Eastern Illinois.  Best of luck to Mallary Vasquez in both her quest for 2023 Homecoming Royalty and in her final semester at Lindenwood as an under graduate student.
