Martin Benjamin Ponder, 88, of House Springs, Missouri passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Friendship Village in Sunset Hills, MO.
He was born March 31, 1935 in Apple Creek, MO to William and Clara (Trapp) Ponder.
He and Helen Arlene Ratcliff were married on June 29, 1957 in Perryville. She precedes him in death.
He was a member of St. John the Beloved Disciple Catholic Church in Imperial MO.
Martin retired as a cement mason with Vee Jay Construction. He enjoyed fishing , gardening, playing bags and washers. Most importantly Martin always put his family first.
Survivors include son, Bryan (Cindy) Ponder of Fenton, MO; sister, Antonia Nauman of Indianapolis, IN; daughter-in-law, Jill (Jeff Reed) Ponder; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Ponder, Brandon (Bre) Ponder, Stephanie (Jerin) VanWyk, Nika Ponder, Alex Ponder, Bradley (Elizabeth) Ponder, Zachary Ponder, Nicholas Ponder; four great-grandchildren, Arianna, Leena, Ellott, Harper.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Roger L. Ponder, Martin “Porky” L. Ponder.
Visitation will be from 8:00 am to 9:30 am on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday, October 2, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Clay Kilburn C.M. officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Saint Mary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
