Illinois Route 3 bridge cleaning, painting project begins today

EVANSVILLE – The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that cleaning and painting of the bridge carrying Illinois 3 over the Kaskaskia River in Randolph County will begin today, weather permitting.

The work will require lanes of Illinois 3 from Liberty Street to Elm Shade Road to be shifted to the southwest side of the bridge. Both lanes of traffic will remain open. The work is anticipated to be completed by mid-December.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
